PROGRAMS:SCCA Projects
This programme refers to the radical change of the up-to-date activities of SCCA - Skopje in the framework of the SVAG (Soros Visual Art Grants). The changing is imposed as a necessity in accordance to the state of the art scene, which points out to the opinion that SCCA - Skopje has satisfied and covered the urgent conditions in respect to the basic securing of catalogues and local presentation for the artists. The program suggests radical changes in the way of work of SCCA - Skopje in respect to the fact that a permanent novelty and freshness in the realm of its work is expected of it.

In the framework of its regular activities SCCA - Skopje is organizing regular Annual Exhibitions of local contemporary art. The annual exhibition has for an aim to promote domestic fine art and artists. It should urge the interest for themes and media that are less explored by artists or represented by museums and galleries. The exhibition has also for an aim to elevate the general level of comprehension of contemporary art in the wider audience. The exhibition is located in different, either institutional either alternative spaces. Each year the exhibition explores a different medium, introducing new ideas, approaches, techniques and artists, through which different theories for the art are produced. Participation in these exhibitions is open to competition to all generations of artists in the country. (Students do not have a right to enter the competition). The SCCA Board is responsible for the choice of the artists for the Annual Exhibition. The Board retains the right to invite, either for the competition or for the exhibition, one to two artists. International Jury consisted of five members (chosen by the Board of SCCA), selects the most impressive works of art on the exhibition and awards up to 3 awards. The Budget of the exhibition does not cover the expenses for the creation or performing of the projects, which is in fact a property of the artist. SCCA - Skopje as an organizer of the exhibition rents the materials and equipment and secures expert and technical assistance necessary for the realization of the selected projects. Budget: US$ 9,500.00

As a result of the international affirmation of the activities of the SCCA Network and SCCA - Skopje separately, a part of SVAG is intended for projects which are developed with international institutions, with the aim of presentation and affirmation of the current art in Macedonia. They will be organized on the basis of criteria: - Projects toward SCCA. The invitations for organizing of exhibitions by SCCA - Skopje by interested partners from abroad fall in these groups of projects. They refer to the co-operation with Institutions that have a greater meaning for the world art scene with an aim of more adequate and qualitative presentation of Macedonian art. The SCCA office may invite also a Curator, i.e. Institution for the leading of these projects outside of it as well, by a decision of the Board of SCCA. Budget: US$3000 - Projects of SCCA. These projects are organized on initiative of SCCA, and with an aim as the upper noted. SCCA in these projects will lead, organize and finance all of the necessary elements of the project (in the sense of publications, transport of the artist-artists and the curator). With an aim SCCA to change the up-to-date activities, in accordance to the strategic re-orientation towards independence in the near future, SCCA - Skopje introduces the work on macro and micro projects which would refer to the urgent needs of the "world of art" in Macedonia, and in the final interest of SCCA - Skopje. This refers above all to dedicating a bigger attention to the Fine-Arts Institutions (instead of to the artists individually or in a group), working on projects in fields which up to now have not been a subject of interest of SCCA - Skopje, i.e. undertaking an organized education of the staff of the institutions or of the young curators regarding the contemporary flow in the art practice, communication and management. Working on these projects supplement the picture of SCCA as an institution, which permanently intends to cover the most important aspects of the art acting in Macedonia, and in accordance with the current social needs. If SCCA - Skopje is not a manager of some of these projects, open competitions will be advertised for awarding grants on which interested institutions would apply with the goal of organizing and realizing the projects.
